- Insecticide: Boric acid was used in the USA in the 1940s as an insecticide to fight cockroaches, termites, fire ants, fleas, silverfish, and many other insects. It functions as a poison where when the insect consumes it, it will affect its stomach and digestive systems. After consuming the boric acid poison, it will return to its nest and die from it.
